30 Jahre nach dem Ende der legendären Berliner Werkstatt für Photographie an der VHS Kreuzberg, präsentieren die Dozent*Innen am Photocentrum der heutigen Gilberto Bosques Volkshochschule Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, erstmals eine gemeinsame Ausstellung. Waren Gruppenausstellungen von Dozenten und Schülern in den Zeiten der Werkstatt für Photographie noch die Regel, hat es nun 30 Jahre gedauert, bis die Dozent*Innen der VHS eine erste eigene Schau für ein breites Publikum konzipiert haben.
Soweit die einzelnen Ansätze konzeptuell auch divergieren, verbindet alle Dozent*Innen ein historisches, pädagogisches und künstlerisch geprägtes Interesse an Fotografie, mit dem sie den Fachbereich Fotografie der Gilberto Bosques Volkshochschule Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg heute zu einem der größten Anbieter für künstlerische Fotografie bundesweit gemacht haben. Aus dem einstigen, eher dogmatisch konzipierten Lehrangebot der Werkstatt ist heute ein breit gefächertes Curriculum entstanden. Neben fotografischem Journalismus, Dokumentarismus, experimentellem Konzeptualimus hält es auch vielfältige subjektive künstlerische Ansätze bereit. Alle diese Ansätze werden in der Ausstellung gezeigt.
Im Hinblick auf das 30- bzw. 40-jährige Jubiläum der Werkstatt für Photographie, die parallel im November 2016 mit drei Ausstellungen in der C|O Berlin, dem Folkwang-Museum in Essen und dem Sprengel-Museum in Hannover gewürdigt wird, zeigt diese Ausstellung die künstlerischen Weiterentwicklungen seit dem Ende der Werkstatt, die erstmals nicht aus der Perspektive der Teilnehmer*Innen, sondern aus dem künstlerischen Schaffen der Dozent*Innen zu sehen sind: EINS!

Thirty years after the closing of the legendary Berlin School for Photography Werkstatt für Photografie at the VHS- Kreuzberg, the actual photography lecturers from the Photocentrum at the Gilberto Bosques Volkshochschule Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg are presenting their first group exhibition in Berlin.
At the times of the Werkstatt für Photographie group exhibitions of the faculty members and students were the rule. Now, after 30 years, the photography lecturers now working at Gilberto Bosques Volkshochschule Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg have organized their first group exhibition conceived for the wide audience.
Even though each of their approaches into photography diverge conceptually, all of them are connected through a profound artistic, historic and educational interest in photography and have managed to transform the Department of Photography of the Gilberto Bosques Volkshochschule Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg in one of the most important spots offering tuition on artistic photography in Germany. A wide teaching range has arisen out of the rather dogmatically conceived courses of the former Werkstatt für Photographie. Together with photojournalism, documentary and conceptual photography, a broad ambit of subjective artistic approaches and experimental photography play an important role in the tuition. All of these approaches can be seen at the exhibition.
With reference to the 40th Anniversary of the Werkstatt für Photographie – which will be remembered during November 2016 through three exhibitions in the C | O Berlin, the Folkwang Museum in Essen and the Sprengel Museum in Hannover – this exhibition shows for the first time the further artistic development since its closing for thirty years and also shows it for the first time through the artistic creation of the lecturers: EINS! (ONE!)
A catalog book about the exhibition with an introduction by Dr. Enno Kaufhold will be published in zimmerverlagberlin.
